Jeanne d'Arc Style

Anyone familiar with Jeanne d'Arc and love their
Vintage Look & Flea Market Finds ?
We do.

Jeanne d'Arc was born in 2004 by Lonnie Wurtz and Vivian Christensen.
In 2009 came the magazine
Jeanne d'Arc Living.
Originally written for Danish readers, this magazine
was all about French & Nordic Style, which we adore.
The magazine is now available in several languages.
We are soon to stock some of the magazines.
Please let us know if you are interested as copies will be limited.
We will be stocking some of the home accessories.
For those who love to sew are these beautiful
embroidered letters have been sewn onto an aged piece of paper
and can be transferred onto a cushion cover, pillowslip anything that you
want to personalise.

This lovely Iron Window Frieze
is perfect to finish a window like below
without blocking any light.

How different is this look.
We love them.
They come in a couple of sizes and styles.

All the home accessories and furniture has a wonderful relaxed
style about it.

The furniture mostly white and grey
is made from Mango Wood.

Made from reclaimed window shutters, these
room dividers have been painted white,
have a wonderful patina, come in various sizes according to the shutters used to make them
and are such a lovely addition to a vintage home.

Well my appetite has been wetted.
And looking at these lovely things have inspired me to get out my paint brush again.
Spring is truly in the air, blossom is out.
Spring cleans and re-paints is on my list.
Have a lovely week.
Bye for now.

GARDENALIA INSPIRATIONS

Thursday this week was a gorgeous bright sunny day.
It was so good to get out and in the garden for a good
tidying up.
The image below is from a lovely book of
Gardenalia.
By Country Living.

This is another one of my picture books.
Great to pick up from the coffee table and get enthused a little.
Old garden tools are special.
Very old ones too valuable to use.
But great for displaying and adding interest.

I am not really  formal gardener.
I like random, messy maybe, eclectic style.

Even though I have my nice set of garden furniture,
it is little collections of odd bits that interest me most.

And bunting, oh yes, nothing like a bit of bunting to
add cheer to a garden tea party.

Back entrances, that sounds a bit odd ! ? anyway
with big pots and tables with
little pots.
I love.

I like a little order sometimes, like this neat  row of
containers, full of perennials.

An old staircase has come in handy
for rows of Hyacinths.
Pink is not a favourite of mine.
But they look and probably smell divine.
Pink and yellow makes me feel weird.
Do they go together ?
Not for me.

This table looks interesting.
Looks like it is made up from odd pieces of wood.

I love my trees.
I always plant trees when I move into a new home.
I would much rather sit under a tree with a gentle breeze,
and enjoy my lunch or afternoon tea,
better than sitting under a hot parasol.
Do you find they make you hot ?
Must be to do with the colour.

Now I really do love this image.
The colours are light and fresh.

Now this old London Stock brick wall is
lovely.
I would love a walled garden in these bricks but it would
cost a fortune.
The hot pink Geranium is pretty in its hanging pot.
I do have a few benches that I have collected over
the years, old and rusty they may be, but I still dot them around my own garden.
Old cushions beckon for us to
have a little sit and ponder on
all the things we ought to be doing.

This is the lovely book that I have featured
in this post.

I wonder if you are getting in the mood for spot of gardening yet.
Or have you been hard at it already?
Lets hope that we get a good summer this year.
We really should do as we have had a hard winter.
Bye for now.

New Year. New Goodies and New Inspiration.

No time for sitting and relaxing with lots of new and beautiful things arriving from far and wide.
We have all just about recovered from Flu, which seemed to eventually tail off,
 but not completely for ages!

We ordered these sweet little Bird Feeders and now is a good time to
hang one in a tree or shrub where you can see it.
Gladly we have been lucky to see the return of the Sparrows.
We thought they may never return to our garden.
I have been feeding the birds, not every day but as often as I remember.
The snow looks so lovely in the garden but it does take its tole on the
wildlife.

New Year and the new healthy eating plan starts yet again!
Our new Medium Enamel French Grey Container have lots of uses.
Fruit looks good but equally three Herbs Pots look great too.

Those of you who have followed me will know how I love to play and display.
This little Zinc Chalk Board Container is great to separate children's Creative Play
bits and bobs.

These belong to
Jude.

My lounge got its very quick lick of fresh paint before
Christmas. No great changes just nice and clean again.
On the trunk is one of our Spring Collection For The Garden range.

We had something very similar last spring and it was very popular.

It is a Zinc Heart Tin inside a Wire Basket.
With a little Heart and Grey and White Gingham Ribbon.
I have planted three little Lavender Plants in this one.
They should look lovely by April.

I just hope the Lavender Plants are happy in my lounge.

The Zinc Crowns have been well received too, especially at the Fairs and Parties.
This is the Medium.
We have small and big too.
Check out the website soon, as we are gradually updating it with lots of
new items.
We are now supplying East Of India and have some gorgeous
things arriving each week.

Well must get back to the Shop.
I hope you have enjoyed this little taster.
I will try to post every week on this blog.
But, you know how it is....

Roses

If I had to pick a flower as my  most loved,
I would not pick the Rose.
Yet my home is full of Roses.
It is without doubt one of the prettiest.
So English.
Whether fresh or dried it is perfect.

The Rose that is used so often in
Cabbages & Roses is one of the best Rose fabrics for me.
I love all the colour ways and all the designs.

 On a Wedding Day
it has to be Roses.
Roses For Love.
Nothing quite compares
to the scent of a room full of  Roses.

On a trip to Devon I found this gorgeous
hand knitted little girls dress,
It has been made in a wonderful soft cotton
which feels lovely against the skin.
Rose buds have been embroidered on the
front of the dress,
Very Vintage and very Cute.

Roses in frames while I look for the
perfect photo.

And the palest of Lavender Roses for a
peaceful bedroom.

Cream Roses wrapped around a bedstead.

Roses on cups and Roses on bedroom walls.

Not Roses....Ranunculus...
In pretty rose colours.
In my guest bedroom.
A room full of Roses.

I have really indulged myself in this little bedroom.
In true Cath Kidston Vintage Style.

I have these lovely paper lanterns waiting to be
put up somewhere.
Pretty pink roses.
Pink & Green look so good together.
I quite like the idea of of row hanging in the bay window.

In this little room you cannot help but be happy.
I think it is everything a real girlie girl would love,
This is not a room for men.

I have made this little room into a cheeful little space.
The mix of colour cannot fail to make you
feel happy.

Or is it that is just takes me back to the days
where I feel a strong sense of
Nostalgia.

 I have to end here.
I could go on and on......
Housework never quite gets finished in my home.
The distractions of taking photos and writing a blog keeps
me from doing what I ought to be doing!
Have a lovely weekend.

Work and Play

A dull wet morning is made better by lighting a few candles!
I am working form home today, hence the title
work and play.

Getting the house in the right mood for working is what I do first.
Even before I get myself ready!

A nice smelling candle where I work and an oil burner scented with Rosemary and Pine
burns in the kitchen.
It does help to kill the smell of breakfast cooking.
Not that I do not find the smell of a full English pleasant
it is just the smell of boiled egg is not a nice welcome
for any friends who may pop in for a quick cuppa.

Setting the scene is what it is all about for me.
It makes such a difference when entering someones home if there is a warm glow.

It is Hubby's day off so he is in charge of cooking and laying the table this morning.

Yeah, see what I mean about setting the scene!
clearly he does not bother!
but he does cook the perfect boiled egg.
and that is the difference between a man and a women.
We ponder on the frilly bits of home making.
He, on the other hand gets his stop watch out to to time the eggs.
Now I cannot be bothered to do this simple thing.
You get you eggs however they come, if you are lucky soft boiled
if not....then to me there is nothing wrong with a slightly
hardish boiled egg!

So you can see I play.
Make vignettes with my various bits and bobs.
This is quite an Autumnal Vignette.

This Lantern is not mine, just an image for the shop.
But I do like this one very much.

Well before I go I must tell you.
We sold out of these Wall Lanterns on the first day
so I will be going out today to get some more.
If you want your name put to one, please email
us and we will be happy to save you one.

Must get on...
Work to do...
See you all soon.
