Roses

If I had to pick a flower as my  most loved,
I would not pick the Rose.
Yet my home is full of Roses.
It is without doubt one of the prettiest.
So English.
Whether fresh or dried it is perfect.

The Rose that is used so often in
Cabbages & Roses is one of the best Rose fabrics for me.
I love all the colour ways and all the designs.

 On a Wedding Day
it has to be Roses.
Roses For Love.
Nothing quite compares
to the scent of a room full of  Roses.

On a trip to Devon I found this gorgeous
hand knitted little girls dress,
It has been made in a wonderful soft cotton
which feels lovely against the skin.
Rose buds have been embroidered on the
front of the dress,
Very Vintage and very Cute.

Roses in frames while I look for the
perfect photo.

And the palest of Lavender Roses for a
peaceful bedroom.

Cream Roses wrapped around a bedstead.

Roses on cups and Roses on bedroom walls.

Not Roses....Ranunculus...
In pretty rose colours.
In my guest bedroom.
A room full of Roses.

I have really indulged myself in this little bedroom.
In true Cath Kidston Vintage Style.

I have these lovely paper lanterns waiting to be
put up somewhere.
Pretty pink roses.
Pink & Green look so good together.
I quite like the idea of of row hanging in the bay window.

In this little room you cannot help but be happy.
I think it is everything a real girlie girl would love,
This is not a room for men.

I have made this little room into a cheeful little space.
The mix of colour cannot fail to make you
feel happy.

Or is it that is just takes me back to the days
where I feel a strong sense of
Nostalgia.

 I have to end here.
I could go on and on......
Housework never quite gets finished in my home.
The distractions of taking photos and writing a blog keeps
me from doing what I ought to be doing!
Have a lovely weekend.

Work and Play

A dull wet morning is made better by lighting a few candles!
I am working form home today, hence the title
work and play.

Getting the house in the right mood for working is what I do first.
Even before I get myself ready!

A nice smelling candle where I work and an oil burner scented with Rosemary and Pine
burns in the kitchen.
It does help to kill the smell of breakfast cooking.
Not that I do not find the smell of a full English pleasant
it is just the smell of boiled egg is not a nice welcome
for any friends who may pop in for a quick cuppa.

Setting the scene is what it is all about for me.
It makes such a difference when entering someones home if there is a warm glow.

It is Hubby's day off so he is in charge of cooking and laying the table this morning.

Yeah, see what I mean about setting the scene!
clearly he does not bother!
but he does cook the perfect boiled egg.
and that is the difference between a man and a women.
We ponder on the frilly bits of home making.
He, on the other hand gets his stop watch out to to time the eggs.
Now I cannot be bothered to do this simple thing.
You get you eggs however they come, if you are lucky soft boiled
if not....then to me there is nothing wrong with a slightly
hardish boiled egg!

So you can see I play.
Make vignettes with my various bits and bobs.
This is quite an Autumnal Vignette.

This Lantern is not mine, just an image for the shop.
But I do like this one very much.

Well before I go I must tell you.
We sold out of these Wall Lanterns on the first day
so I will be going out today to get some more.
If you want your name put to one, please email
us and we will be happy to save you one.

Must get on...
Work to do...
See you all soon.

Making A Home

A quick tour of Johanna's flat.
I cannot believe that it has been eighteen months
since Johanna and Steve moved into their own flat..

Together they have painted wall's and furniture.

And turned a very plain modern flat into
a Scandinavian style home using pale blues, greys and whites so often
seen in Sweden.

Johanna and Steve's love of candlelight
it everywhere,

And nothing looks nicer than some Greenery
to compliment their pale home.

A relaxed home.

With touches of Raspberry to warm things up.

Zinc and glass.
Aged metal and tin are displayed
around their home.

Lanterns are lit.
And curtain's are draped.

Johanna share's a common love for old letter's.
There were originally form an old shop front and were red.
Johanna painted her letter's where I left mine
red and peeling.

Their flat is open plan so very sociable.
This is  a wall in their kitchen
were they have used some old furniture
which they have painted to create
an interesting wall.

I bough her these little pastry tin's.
I have a many displayed in my own home.
With Baker's being on both sides of Johanna's
family it seems quite fitting.

I would like to show you more very soon.
But for now
I leave you with
my artwork !!!

See you soon.
